چکیده
The focus of this study was to improve the Reverse Osmosis Cooling (ROC) process by using CaCO3 for neutralization and selective recovery Fe(OH)3 at pH 3.5. By a specific inhibitor, ferric hydroxide recovered separately from gypsum other metals present in mine water. Ferric processed pigment, product that is imported used as colorant paints tiles. In addition pigment recovery, aluminum calcium carbonate can also be following conclusions were made: (i) rate crystallization, absence Fe3+, influenced over saturation concentration solution, seed crystal temperature; (ii) crystallization an over-saturated presence sludge, required inhibitor dosage 100 mg/L keep solution period 30 min; (iii) both sludge reactant, higher than min. A 200 kept total reaction period; (iv) when only slurry, inhibition more effective allowed settle after initial mixing; (v) are added time (10 min) rather applying zero; (vi) changed yellow (Goethite) heating 150 °C red (Hematite) 800 °C. Pigment nano particle size produced; (vii) case Na2CO3, TDS increased 12,660 feed 13,684 due replacement metal ions (Fe3+, Al3+, Fe2+, Mn2+ Ca2+) with Na+ solution. where removal Fe3+ Ca(OH)2 Mn2+, Na2CO3 Ca2+, dropped 12,661 2288 mg/L, precipitation. alkali cost alkalis amounted ZAR29.43/m3 versus ZAR48.46/m3 Na2CO3.

Recovery of calcium carbonate from steelmaking slag and utilization for acid mine drainage pre-treatment.
The conversion of steelmaking slag (a waste product of the steelmaking process) to calcium carbonate (CaCO(3)) was tested using hydrochloric acid, ammonium hydroxide and carbon dioxide via a pH-swing process. Batch reactors were used to assess the technical feasibility of calcium carbonate recovery and its use for pre-treatment of acid mine drainage (AMD) from coal mines. The effects of key pro...
متن کاملGold, Silver and Iron in Iron Oxy-hydroxide Precipitate Formed in Process of Acid Mine Drainage
Oxidation of sulfide-containing ores is the main cause of Acid Mine Drainage (AMD), which is an environmental problem associated with both the abandoned and active mines. Iron-bearing sulfide minerals can be oxidized and form mine waters with high sulfate content, low pH, high electrical conductivity, high redox potential, and high concentrations of iron, aluminum, and other heavy metals. In th...
متن کاملEngineering of Carbonate Apatite Bone Substitute Based on Composition-Transformation of Gypsum and Calcium Hydroxide
Even though a lot of research has been carried out concerning the preparation of carbonate apatite (CHA), they were related to CHA in the form of powder. In the present study, macroporous CHA bone substitutes were prepared through composition-transformation of gypsum and Ca-hydroxide. Here, we investigated the effect of added Ca-hydroxide to gypsum, carbonation periods, and hydrothermal tempera...
متن کاملMagnetotactic bacteria form magnetite from a phosphate-rich ferric hydroxide via nanometric ferric (oxyhydr)oxide intermediates.
The iron oxide mineral magnetite (Fe3O4) is produced by various organisms to exploit magnetic and mechanical properties. Magnetotactic bacteria have become one of the best model organisms for studying magnetite biomineralization, as their genomes are sequenced and tools are available for their genetic manipulation. However, the chemical route by which magnetite is formed intracellularly within ...
